I dug deeper into the matter and searched for answers as to why this was happening. I came up with DRM protection. DRM stands for Digital Rights Management and this technology assists anti-piracy campaign by disabling files from being copied or converted to other formats. This restriction is aimed at repressing piracy, but it has adverse effects on consumer rights. That means, you and I suffer unjustly because of this policy.

I hope you have not faced any dilemma like I have. But if you have, then let me assist you. I searched for ways to overcome this inconvenience. Here are several methods you can employ to rid of this restricting problem:

Burn and rip files:
Burn the files onto a CD and then rip them if you have software for both procedures. The files can then be converted into any formats you desire.

Online DRM Removal Software:
If you do not have the above mentioned software, no need to panic. The other way is to go online and search for DRM removal programs.
•    These programs have to be downloaded. They automatically convert your DRM protected WMV files to other formats. They do this by extracting the DRM protection from the files, leaving behind only the usable audio/ video version.
•    You can research a bit to obtain the best version of this software. Read the reviews of each program that offers DRM removal. Many of these software programs are not for free download.
•    You might have to register at the music/ video site that offers this program. However, you can also try the software for a free trial period given by many companies.
•    Once you have the software, follow the instructions that come with it. It usually requires you to drag or add the files with DRM protection into the program. The software then converts these files into DRM free audio/ video files.

Now you are free to enjoy your music or videos in any way you want. Load them onto your iPod, and enjoy!
